If you live in the Waipatu community or are just travelling through, you cannot help but see the massive road and footpath construction that has been happening there. Wider roads and footpaths are taking shape as part of a plan to upgrade infrastructure in a rapidly developing community on the edge of Hastings city.
Aligned to the works Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency are consulting on new permanent speed limits for State Highway 51(SH51) between Waipatu in Hastings and Marine Parade in Napier, and the winding section of State Highway 5 (SH5), from Rangitaiki to Esk Valley.

The consultation period runs from Monday April 12 until Sunday 9 May.
