Mamia - Kāinga for Young New Māmā and Pregnant Wāhine
Mamia - Kāinga for Young New Māmā and Pregnant Wāhine
Mamia
We welcome young new māmā and pregnant wāhine who need support and nurturing, to Mamia at Waipatu Marae.
Mamia is a kaupapa Māori marae-based home away from home.
Our kāinga is about aroha and kindness where wāhine lead the way.
At Mamia, māmā are supported and nourished.
Māmā learn about pregnancy, birth, and mothering and experience whānau, stability, and guidance.
Māmā are able to have a kai, hot shower, find information, create, rest,
and sleep while Ama (wāhine volunteers from the community) look after the pēpi.
If you would like to be one of our Ama please get in touch with us.
Ama give of their time and aroha to help guide and support our new mums.
Please see our flyer and pamphlet for information and feel free to refer, refer yourself, contact, or visit us.
