Tamatea Rugby & Sports club is based adjacent to Waipatu Marae on the northern boundary of Hastings (HB) ; current codes are rugby, netball, pool, touch rugby, cricket.  The club was established in 1903 and is the only marae-based rugby club in Heretaunga.  

A whānau-based club, sporting results vary as the generations cycle round but the manaaki and 'heartiness' of the club remains staunch through the highs and lows and the club continues to create pathways for talented players to achieve.  Tamatea club remains an integral element of Waipatu community and marae.
